- How is the food? 菜好吃吗?
- I love it! Just love it! 好吃!我太喜欢了!

上面这些日常情况,中文基本都会用“喜欢”表达情绪;

如果用“I like it", 反而容易造成误解! 1 @* U' T1 q0 f c

Why?为什么? + x3 G( F5 W' I- Z# f& ]" ?2 B; q
"I like it" or "I like it very much" doesn't sound very sincere or enthusiastic: 我喜欢、我非常喜欢在英语里听起来反而有点不真诚、没什么热情 / o& A* ^0 {: P9 O. U) x' e o4 M

总之:

家人之间的love "Love" is also used a lot between family members, parents and kids: love在亲人、父母、孩子之间也很常用

I don't think I've ever said "我爱你" to my parents: 我好像从来没对我父母说过“我爱你” 3 \, c2 k: w' a. d; P+ P
It feels so awkward. I don't know how to say it: 感觉很尴尬,不知怎么开口
; k( p0 q, r7 d! bMy parents don't really say it to me either: 我爸爸妈妈好像也不会跟我说 , \. }+ M) F( ?" a8 x& s) }
But I say "mommy loves you" to my sons all the time: 但是,我倒常用英语跟孩子说“mommy loves you" * c4 c' [8 g7 f- n8 G
I don't really say it in Chinese though, feels really awkward: 但是我不太用中文跟他们说“妈妈爱你”,也觉得很尴尬 # d; K9 y% Y& d0 }6 l F
Maybe when it's not your mother tongue, it's easier to say: 有可能不是自己的母语,反而更容易说 # `) f8 p9 ], X# C
) x% j7 Z. \! W4 h0 J

不过有些美国人也觉得对家人说"I love you"有点儿别扭 * |6 j, i. z- Y5 F: x1 O: C( `- I2 N

WASPs don't say it as much: 英国血统的美国人好像没那么常说“I love you"

说完love, 说hate 中文“恨”是个特别强烈的字,日常很少用。

基本,刚才所有用love的例子,也可以很自然地用hate。

- Traffic is so bad. I hate it! 路真堵,烦死了!

To hate a person? 用在人身上呢? Be careful with using "hate" on people: 用在人身上,要特别谨慎

- I hate it when you ...: 英语通常会说那个具体的行为" N" L9 C5 D6 _1 @" Z) R& n% @7 E

But it's still pretty direct and strong: 不过语气还是挺直接、强烈的

- A love hate relationship with your work/your boss: 对于自己的工作、对于自己的老板,大概也有些爱恨交织的情绪
- Many foreigners have a love hate relationship with China: 很多外国人,对中国也是爱恨交织
