- How is the food? 菜好吃吗?

上面这些日常情况,中文基本都会用“喜欢”表达情绪; ) W$ O. J4 F* c
可是英语却要用“love".

Why?为什么?
/ x) ^# Z; f) u- R) Z/ Z"I like it" or "I like it very much" doesn't sound very sincere or enthusiastic: 我喜欢、我非常喜欢在英语里听起来反而有点不真诚、没什么热情

% s3 x0 I( q. k! T8 d8 sI don't think I've ever said "我爱你" to my parents: 我好像从来没对我父母说过“我爱你”
1 A- \% H/ \' b3 XIt feels so awkward. I don't know how to say it: 感觉很尴尬,不知怎么开口
. T1 A9 m" I0 j' B& Y0 wMy parents don't really say it to me either: 我爸爸妈妈好像也不会跟我说 4 z( C9 {- e. i% y$ T
But I say "mommy loves you" to my sons all the time: 但是,我倒常用英语跟孩子说“mommy loves you"
4 e: I* [ i% @: h% S, M9 D1 O& u% A, {I don't really say it in Chinese though, feels really awkward: 但是我不太用中文跟他们说“妈妈爱你”,也觉得很尴尬 + P; B! D* z! C( o2 M9 S9 p
Maybe when it's not your mother tongue, it's easier to say: 有可能不是自己的母语,反而更容易说

W7 Q* q5 M4 i* j不过有些美国人也觉得对家人说"I love you"有点儿别扭

They are more reserved: 他们比较含蓄 D' W4 n! r" W- D
Sons don't say "I love you" as much as daughters: 还有儿子,也不像女儿那么愿意对父母说"I love you" * H/ ?# \9 K! m! K3 H
Girls, even grown-up girls say it all the time to their parents: 女儿,就算是成年了,也常跟父母说“I love you" ' w% [/ I7 ]! U. h

说完love, 说hate 中文“恨”是个特别强烈的字,日常很少用。

- Traffic is so bad. I hate it! 路真堵,烦死了!5 t! _/ z& [4 y/ q. T6 J1 [

所以,hate在口语里,更多是“讨厌”的意思,而不是恨。 2 |6 s9 m; r2 {3 a% D2 Q

To hate a person? 用在人身上呢? Be careful with using "hate" on people: 用在人身上,要特别谨慎 . \7 t3 o9 `/ x/ n k' Z
You can use it jokingly with your friends: 也许跟很好的朋友,可以用调侃的语气

But in general, hate is a very strong word if you use it on people: 不过总的来说,hate用在人身上,语气是很强的 ( u! S3 L& H) u: h/ _3 d+ S
