Every path to success begins with agreat idea. There's only one problem: Great ideas are a dime a dozen. What really matters when it comes to becoming a success is not having the idea but having the courage to transform that idea into reality. This usually means a risk of losing the security of a regular job and risking a steady paycheck. Only the brave ever overcome this first of the pitfalls.

Even with a great idea and the courage to pursue it, your efforts will be for naught unless you're willing to take massive action. Write down your goals and (more important) the action steps you'll take to pursue those goals. Post your vision and plan in your bedroom, bathroom, office. Share it with others, so they'll hold you accountable for delivering on your plan. Make yourself accountable and become the master of your destiny.

Between the preparation and the work, the apprenticeship and the actual dealing with at ask or an art, there comes, in the experience of many young men, a period of uncertainty and wandering which is often misunderstood and counted as time wasted, when it is, in fact, a period rich in full and free development.

: Z2 D; t# f$ B, \

It is as natural for ardent and courageous youth to wish to know what is in life, what it means, and what it holds for its children, as for a child to reach for and search the things that surround and attract it. Behind every real worker in the world is a real man, and a man has a right to know the conditions under which he must live, and the choices of knowledge, power, and activity which are offered him. In the education of many men and women, therefore, there comes the year of wandering; the experience of traveling from knowledge to knowledge and from occupation to occupation.

2 O; F9 Y& A, ~0 q/ g

The forces which go to the making of a powerful man can rarely be adjusted and blended without some disturbance of relations and conditions. This disturbance is sometimes injurious, because it affects the moral foundations upon which character rests; and for this reason the significance of the experience in its relation to development ought to be sympathetically studied. The birth of the imagination and of the passions, the perception of the richness of life, and the consciousness of the possession of the power to master and use that wealth, create a critical moment in the history of youth,—a moment richer in possibilities of all kinds than comes at any later period.

  [% ^3 A: w/ {  J. y

Agitation and ferment ofsoul are inevitable in that wonderful moment. There are times when agitation isas normal as is self-control at other and less critical times. The year of wandering is not a manifestation of aimlessness, but of aspiration, and that in its ferment and uncertainty youth is often guided to and finally prepared for its task.

Optimism doesn’t need to be naïve. We can be an optimist andstill recognize that the problems exist and that some of them are not dealt witheasily. But what a difference optimism makes in the attitude of theproblem solver? Optimism diverts our attention away from negativism andchannels it into positive, constructive thinking. When you are an optimist, you’re more concerned withproblem-solving than with useless carping about issues. In fact, withoutoptimism, issues as big and ongoing as poverty have no hopeof solution. It takes a dreamer--- some with hopelessly optimistic ideas, great persistence, and confidence – to tackle a problem that big. It’s yourchoice.

2 B& H0 E" a. ^! G

Nothing Succeeds Like Confidence& A. k# Z$ R5 S& r9 G+ |

Confidence is compassionate and understanding. It is not arrogant. Arrogance is born out of fear and insecurity, while confidence comes from strength and integrity.

Confidence is not just believing you can do it. Confidence is knowing you can do it. Know that you are capable of accomplishing anything you want, and live your life with confidence.

Anything can be achieved through focused, determined effort and self-confidence. If your life is not what you want it to be, you have the power to change it, and you must make the changes on a moment by moment basis. Live your priorities. Live with your goals and your plan of action. Live each moment with your prioritiesin mind. Act with your own purpose, and you will have the life you want.

" q; V1 Y0 g$ z( o5 L6 g
